Why?Yep, we were in the pub and I mentioned.....
|
I decided to do the ride after my Mum suffered with cancer last year and I felt a bit useless/helpless and needed to do something, or at least feel like I was doing something. Fortunately we have since found out that my Mum's cancer is in remission after radiotherapy.
Jeremy's ex-partner has also suffered with cancer and had to endure a major operation to remove her tumour. Jeremy felt the same as me... A bit helpless. Anyway, we were all in the pub and everyone heard my proposal.... So that was that.... Now the story was out there.... Now it HAS to be done. |
A few friends said that they would help out... a few friends said they would come too!
We are all around 40 years old and have never considered anything like this before, some of us are not particularly fit but I guess that’s part of the reason why we want to do it.
And so, on 25th June 2011, Nathan Dale (Me), Jeremy Laight, Alan Carreras, Wayne Lewis and Dave Leslie will be Cycling from John O'Groats to Land's End for Cancer Research!
We will have a support vehicle, which will be driven by Dave Dale (my Dad), so we don't need to carry too much. This means that we can do the journey on road bikes. We hope that the lighter bikes will make it easier!
