Breakfast was nice but happiness wasn’t flowing because the “Brown Sauce” isn’t HP and is just “Sauce that is brown”. Alan’s now rating it everywhere we go!
We left John O’Groats 08:45 and, much to Alan’s disdain, headed in the wrong direction to Duncanbys Head. It was done on purpose though as I figured we might just as well go as far away from Land’s End as we could before heading down country.
From there we headed west across to Dunnet Head, this time to go as far north on the mainland as we could go. Alan wasn’t too pleased about that either. The extra mileage didn’t go down too well… We did see some seals at Dunnet Head, which helped appease everyone for a short time at least.
So, after a picture at the furthest point northeast, and a picture at the furthest point north, finally at 10:30 we were on our way south and for the first time since breakfast, I think everyone felt okay…
And then it rained.
Still, we’ve checked into a lovely B&B where we were meant to be camping tonight. The extra cost will be well worth it as the weather’s been terrible for hours… more importantly, today’s an easy day to warm up for tomorrow… That’s going to be a killer!
Off for food and a (some) beer now! Oh, and the suns out!
