First the good news:
Katrina and Wayne organised a fantastic night at The Fox in Middle Barton on Saturday and managed to raise a staggering £1,247.44. A truly wonderful effort all round. Big thanks to all involved.
Our total now stands at £6,520.14, with the promise of more to come. I’d love to hit the £10,000 before we leave.
Now the bad news:
The last Blog said that training was going well… it’s not so good now. In fact I’d go as far as to say I’m well behind where I wanted to be and indeed, where I think that I should be. It’s nobody’s fault, just circumstance and illness have devastated training over the past couple of weeks, and it’s not going to get any better! I’ve got family parties and school fete’s coming up and time is pressing.
Last weekend we went out to do 60 miles but only managed 40 due to the fact it was “hosing it down” with rain so we left late and then Julian (our pace-setter) had a split tyre on route. I think Julian was more gutted than us to be honest! Still, lovely bacon sarnies when we got back to Lewie’s so it wasn’t all bad.
On Monday 9th I got food poisoning which prevented me training on Tuesday (I was bed-ridden for two days). My weekly mileage is lower this week than what I was doing in February! Still on the up side, I’ve got less weight to carry up all them there hills as I went from 13st 1.5lb on Monday morning to 12st 9.25lb on Thursday. Beat that Marjorie Dawes of Fat Fighters!!!
We’ve only got six weeks left until we leave… With other commitments looming, I just can’t see when I can get the mileage in. I’m the weak link as the moment and I’m fairly sure that the only reason I don’t get left behind is because I’VE GOT THE SAT NAV!
Is this just doubt creeping in? I’ve read other blogs and they do talk about doubt as your enemy. Still, I’m hardly going to pull out of it now am I? Mind you, I look at Lewie’s improvement and Googie powering up hills, oh, and Squidge pulling wheelies whilst GOING UP HILL and there’s no getting away from it…. I am getting really worried now!
