I’m sorry for the delay since my last blog, a lack of cycling, due to the weather, was the original cause but then just before Christmas we had some terrible news. I normally try to be light-hearted in these blogs, but it is with great sadness that I type this.
Aussie Dave’s wife Deb passed away just before Christmas. The news came out of the blue and has cast a shadow over all our lives let alone the ride. Deb had a brain aneurysm followed by two strokes. She was 38 and leaves two children as well as Dave.
If anything, it has made me think about the fragility of life and my reasons for doing the JOGLE in the first place. I now know I NEED to do this ride.
I suspect that in the upcoming months we’ll discuss whether to split our fund-raising between Cancer Research UK and a charity of Dave’s choice. Either way, all we can do is support Dave as best we can.
Our thoughts are with him and his family.
