It was horrendous.
It was definitely the worst training day we’ve experienced in the last 14 months. In fact it MUST have been bad because Jeremy kept mumbling obscenities under his breath, and Alan has never sworn at me so much. Alan swore at me a lot. Even Ju said it was one of, if not THE worst day he’s been out!!!
A 70 mile training ride yesterday in the Cotswolds (Click here).... Head-winds, side-winds and sideways rain, the weather was horrendous. Oh, and there were a few hills… into the wind. It would have been a lovely route on a summer's day... What's that? It was a summer's day? Flaming June.
This video really doesn’t do it justice but you can get an idea:

On top of that, at about 45 miles in, Alan broke his chain.
For once I didn’t have a tool to mend it… Well, I’ve got one, it just wasn’t in my saddle bag… It will be from now on though!!!
Strangely enough, after freewheeling downhill into the village and spotting a pub, Alan didn’t seem to mind half as much!!! And after he phoned Vicky and asked if she would come and pick him up, he even stopped swearing at me.
Ju, Jeremy and I carried on, so at least we're all prepared for Scotland I suppose! Actually, that’s not entirely true; you may have noticed someone missing from this blog… Wayne was watching the Le Mans 24 hour race in France. Of all the days to miss, I think I might use some of Alan’s choice phrases when I see him!!!
Our fundraising is going well and we have just broken the £9,000 barrier with the promise of some corporate to be paid still. If you haven’t yet sponsored us, now’s the time!!!
And I know people are reading… We had 206 unique visitors viewing this blog on 6th June!!!
Big Brother is watching! Or should that be "Big Brother Nathaniel"?
